The next in-studio Comedy Intensive on May 19 2024.

For 25 years, agents, managers and comedy casting directors all highly recommend taking Scott Sedita’s One-Day Comedy Intensive. It is the industry standard for sitcom acting, comedic branding and marketing yourself in this competitive industry.

Based on Sedita’s international bestselling book, The Eight Characters of Comedy: A Guide to Sitcom Acting and Writing, (which has been translated into different languages) this specially designed “Sitcom Bootcamp” teaches actors The Sedita Method, which combines comedic technique with character work. Scott has travelled all over the United States, Europe, Australia, and Canada teaching his award-winning sitcom workshop.

Since its first printing in 2004, the The Eight Characters of Comedy has created a sitcom vernacular used in the industry from character types like The Lovable Loser, The Manizer, and In Their Own Universe, to sitcom joke terminology like The Turnaround and Triplets, and sitcom rules like "Don’t change a word!" and "Follow the punctuation!"

In the One-Day Comedy Intensive, actors work continuously throughout class learning how to access and ignite their "funny gene," breakdown comedic beats in sitcom scripts, identify different types of jokes and deliver jokes with comedic precision. And, most importantly, actors are introduced to Scott’s The Eight Characters of Comedy, thereby helping them find their comedic niche, essential for marketing yourself (i.e. headshots, self-tapes, agent/manager meetings).

The One-Day Comedy Intensive lays the foundation for the work that lies ahead and is a prerequisite to joining our Sitcom Acting Technique class.
